Bingo seems to be the much over looked form of gambling in the UK and the US. But how can this be so? Over three million people play bingo in the UK alone, although one bingo company claims it has 5 million members. Plus, with the increasing number of bingo adverts on television at the moment who can doubt the wealth of bingo companies in the UK, especially when they reel in over £90 million a year in the UK and still dish out hundreds of thousands of pounds in prizes! On the internet all you can see when it comes to bingo is ‘free bingo’, ‘free bingo cash’, ‘free bingo online’, this is a very well advertised pastime.

Bingo tends to be stereotyped as a game only played by middle-aged women who play because they have nothing better to do, but this is not true. It is true that more women play it than men, with 10% of the UK’s population of women playing. However, over 5% of men play it too! This may not sound a lot but with the population in July 2007 being estimated at 60,776,238 people and 30,077,548 of these are men - that means 1,503,877 men play bingo in the UK, which is a high figure by anyone’s standards. Overall this adds up to 8% of the UK’s population playing bingo, amounting to nearly five million people based on 2007 estimates.

Add to this the fact that on the internet people in the UK search for the term ‘bingo’ around 406,439 times a month. If it wasn’t popular why would people search for it? Online bingo games are growing in numbers rapidly, with new bingo websites appearing every week in the major search engines - surely people making money know what is popular and what has the best market?
