Acrylic plastic can be drilled. Regular drills with some sort of changes are used for drilling of acrylic. Drill bits are specially designed for acrylic for best results Changes are required so that the plastic is not fractured and grabbed. These changes are made on the blade. Changes have to be done so that bit cuts with a scraping action by grinding small flats onto both cutting edges. Two continuous spiral come out from hole of drill is sharpened and operated in the right manner. Acrylic plastic requires finishing. Various steps to be followed in the finishing include scraping, filing, sanding and polishing. All these steps are very important and have to be followed for producing a good and finished item of acrylic plastic. All edges of display have to be properly defined. This is because of transparency of the acrylic plastic. To get a finished edge scraping is required. A hacksaw blade can be used for this purpose. Back of blade fulfills the requirement. Just corner of square edge of blade should be drawn along the edge of sheet of acrylic.

After cutting of edges, filing is required. Technique of filing removes marks of tool used for cutting. The filing equipment has to be put at an angle so that it slides easily along the surface. If sliding is not done at a proper angle then grooves can be produced in work piece. To give work piece finest look sanding is followed after filing. A sand paper of required thickness is used. Sandpapers used are of various grits. They can be used dry as well as wet. And it is preferable to use a wooden or rubber sanding block. A typical pattern should be followed while sanding acrylic plastic. Sand paper should be used in circular motion along with plenty of water with wet or dry papers. Area on which sand paper is used always exceeds area of scratch. Main consideration while performing sanding should be that sand paper should be scrubbed in slow motion and with light pressure. Last step to be followed for producing a finished acrylic piece is polishing. Polishing gives acrylic a good shine. The equipments required for polishing are power driven buffing tools. They are available as attachments for electric drills. Wheels should be capable of rotating at speed of one thousand and two hundred feet per minute however speeds more than this are also desirable for acrylic. Polishing of acrylic should be done by same type of compound as is used for silver or brass. After performing of all these steps a finished item of acrylic plastic is produced. This finished work piece enhances look of place wherever it is kept.
