Christmas light tradition
Light is such a powerful symbol in all religions. All the religions of the world have a special place and meaning for light. Many religious celebrations around the world are centered on the symbol of light. Often light signifies new life. More than that, they add glamour to the celebrations.
The tradition of Christmas lights goes back to 17th century. This tradition originated in Germany. In the 17th century they did not obviously have the modern lights we have today. They used candles as they did not have electricity. They placed these candles on the Christmas trees so that the decorations can be seen at night. All these candles were placed in such a way that the ornaments were clearly visible. They eventually started using candle holders to place the candles on the tree and later small lanterns were used.
When the electrical bulbs were invented people started using the electrical bulbs as Christmas lights. Initially it was tried by the assistant of Thomas Alva Edison who illuminated a Christmas tree in New York with almost 80 bulbs. This became a popular idea and more and more people started using electric bulbs. Crude forms of today’s version of Christmas lights started coming to the market. This concept was further refined by Albert Dadacca who invented the modern form of safe Christmas lights and his company called the NOMA Electric Company specialized in producing Christmas lights. The custom of decorating the outdoor Christmas trees started in North America. This practice gradually started spreading to the other parts of the world as well.
Today we cannot imagine any Christmas celebrations without the Christmas lights. It has become part of the Christmas celebrations worldwide. Children in the family get highly disappointed if you do not have Christmas lights in your decoration.
Today LED Christmas lights are becoming more popular when compared to the traditional glass bulbs. They have longer life and they are more reliable unlike the conventional bulbs with which there will always be something wrong every year we take it out from the Christmas box.
The energy consumption by LED Christmas lights is a lot lesser when compared to the traditional serial lights. You can save up to 90% on the energy consumption. Moreover, the LED Christmas lights do not have the problem of rusting unlike the glass bulbs that fall off from their metal sockets. LED lights are safer when compared to the traditional bulbs. They are fire proof and almost unbreakable. LED lights come in a variety of colors such as green, blue, gold, etc.
Today we can also find musical Christmas lights that dance according to the music of the carols. The timers of the musical Christmas lights are set in such a way that these LED lights flicker in a sequential fashion making it look like a dance. You will also be able to change the tempo of the music and the flickering of the lights using a built-in control box that comes with the musical Christmas light.
