A Campground offers a place for a camper to pitch a tent. It is an open ground where a camper can create a campsite. Generally a group of campsites providing basic amenities for the campers. Dedicated campsites charge fee for creating a campsite. Both commercial and governmental campgrounds typically charge a nominal fee for the privilege of camping there, to cover expenses, and in the case of an independent campground, to make a profit. Most RV Parks are open to all comers just like hotels or motels. A few RV Parks work on time share basis. Including Drinking water connection, Sewer connection, AC power connection, Television connection, Telephone connection; many RV Parks also have WI-FI facilities. Common amenities like recreational vehicles, fireplaces to keep warm and cozy are also provided. In US campgrounds having facility for recreational vehicles are known as Campgrounds and with similar arrangements is called Caravan Parks.In US backcountry camping is very popular in National Parks, here the campers generally use horses or prefer foot to reach there. Other available facilities include picnic arrangements, water and other daily usage amenities. Facilities like gift shops, convenience store, restrooms, showers, laundry, dump places, exercise equipments, swimming pool, spa may also be available.
Some campsites need prior reservation of places to ensure that campers get space and enjoy the camping. For some countries, there are laws for allowing camping on public lands. There are predetermined rules and regulations for storing food and protection of number of resources. Mostly open fires are prohibited for cooking purpose. Campers are given portable stoves/ gas arrangements for cooking purpose. The campgrounds are divided into number of zones. With each zone allowing maximum number of campers and campsites.
