Water Park Tips

At most water parks, you pay a flat rate for entrance, and then the park is yours. The rest is up to you. The difference between a little fun and lot of fun lies in whether you come prepared. The following recommendations can help you make the most of your money and have the smoothest, most exciting water park experience possible:
1. Dress for the Occasion
It’s important to remember that a water park experience is different from an amusement park experience and also different from a beach experience. Plan ahead for the specific demands of the park and its particular rides.
• Some of the slides may have you moving very fast, so pick a swimsuit that will stay secure. Women should wear a one-piece suit and men should wear trunks with a strong draw string.
• Be careful that your suit does not have an excess of buttons and zippers, which may not be allowed on some slides.
• Since you’ll be walking all day on hot sidewalks, remember to bring a pair of sandals or flip-flops.
• Protect your skin with waterproof sun block, a hat, and a light colored t-shirt.
• With a bright sun reflecting on water and wet surfaces, you’ll be doing a lot of squinting if you don’t bring a good pair of sunglasses.
2. Pack Tight, Pack Light
After you’ve been up the ladder and down the slide a dozen or so times, you’ll be glad to carry as little baggage as possible.
• Only bring what you will absolutely need; leave all of your unnecessary items in your car or in a locker.
• Consider bringing enough money to buy your lunch. This helps cut down on things to carry, and provides another opportunity to enjoy all that the park has to offer.
• Try to consolidate your valuable items into a sealable plastic bag. This keeps your “luggage” light and keeps your items safe and dry.
3. Keep Ahead of the Game
The third and final tip is simply to plan ahead. Be sure to look at the weather forecast for the day you plan to visit the park, because many water parks will close their slides in the event of a storm. Also, plan to arrive at the park as early as possible. This way you can beat the crowds and enjoy the short lines for as long as possible.
Don’t let your trip to the water park become a drag. It’s supposed to be fun, refreshing, and relaxing. So get twice the fun out of your time and money by bringing what you need, leaving what you don’t, and planning ahead!
