Ukraine is a unitary state situated in the south of Central Europe. There are twenty four regions that named “oblast” are included into this country, but there are also 2 urban districts that are considered to be separate provinces: the capital of Ukraine – Kiev and Sevastopol. Ukraine became a semi-presidential republic just several years ago. That is the result of an orange revolution of 2004. The system of government in the country has been changed with the power spread between different branches of power. Ukraine has a common boundary with 10 countries. These countries are Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Moldova and Slovakia. The country is in the main treeless plain with mountains in the Crimea and not high Carpathian Mountains. The imaginary line which is considered to be the boundary between the eastern and the western parts of the country is river Dnieper. Thanks to the river Ukraine has the most of its hydroelectric power. Every winter there is much snow there but the climate is quite soft and temperature is not so low. The summers are showery with temperatures frequently going about 35 Centigrade. Nevertheless, the weather is dry and sunny most of the time.
Agriculture is the area which is quite developed in that region. It is produced by such favorable climate conditions. Actually, Ukraine is considered to be an agricultural country which permanently exports sugar, corn, vegetables and other produces to more than 110 countries. Kiev is the capital of Ukraine and the biggest city of this country. It dates its history since the 5th century. It was the little settlement which developed into the center of Slavic civilization in the Eastern Europe. After it was conquered by Mongols in the 13th century and completely destroyed, it lost its eminence for a long time. However, industrial revolution assisted the city regain prominence. In times of the Soviet Union Kiev became the capital of Ukrainian Soviet Republic. The population of Kiev is growing at a high rate and according to the census info in 2003 it was about 3 million people. We may not even nearly estimate the number of various ethnic groups that are included into this amazing city. More than 120 ethnic groups live here. During the 70s and 80s, the city saw stable increasing in population that in turn reflected in the improvement of real estate. Among blue and white blocks of flats created modern downtown buildings. During several last years Kiev has gained the status of full-fledged European city with many chic restraints and luxury hotels.
Ukraine economics gains power after the time of post Soviet problems. Nowadays Ukraine is quite respectable country which is known not as a part of the Soviet Union, but as autonomous country. Experienced economical foretellers say that Ukraine will become a participant of WTO in a quite short time.
